Judging Others About What They Eat | almamyrtle.com

This holiday season & really all year around, think about those who do not have food or have enough of it to go around at the table…if they even have a table. Try to show a little open mindedness & compassion toward those who do not eat the same as you(meat eaters, pescatarians, vegetarians & vegans etc…)…and those who do not have food at all(could be your neighbor)…or have to struggle to get it(could be anyone you know). I’ve just been hearing a lot of ignorance going around with people putting others down about the food that they eat. Everything is alive. Everything shits, eats, breathes, kills, grows, praises God, dies, lives, is born, reaches for the sun & sleeps. Everything is alive & yes, some foods help us to level out in some special ways, & other kinds do not always mix well with our system…but that’s not a reason to bash other people about what they eat. This embarrassing ignorance really needs to stop. This kind of snobby ignorant talk is lame. Maybe you’re too afraid to learn about how alive everything is? Walk through nature & listen to your nature family. What if you had to start eating like the vegetarian that you know? Or what if you had to start eating meat? Or leave behind your love of fish because your system could not longer handle it? I really wish people would realize how alive everything is & how the words we use to beat each other down are knives in a fresh kill. For every pool of red blood beneath a dead land animal, there is puddle of sap from a tree that has been cut down. Eating in a way that feels good for you doesn’t mean that you have to make other people feel like they are beneath you. The earth is beneath your feet, & that’s it. And even she can swallow you whole & spit you out again in agreement with God to bring you back to life, you see? Everything is alive. Everything, everything, everything. Trees mourn when they lose a family member…or a few… . Just because you cannot hear them bewailing doesn’t mean that they are not crying for their loss. It doesn’t mean they do not have a souls. Human beings have souls & some choose not to mourn, you know? The earth is at your feet & the earth supplies ALL of mankind with food to live & continue on our individual paths in the physical form. I understand that some are compassionate about the manner in which the animal and/or plant life is killed, however it’s still no excuse to cut another human being down because of what they eat. Remember the ones who don’t have a bite to eat right now. It’s hard for them. They might be afraid to tell someone because it’s embarrassing. It’s hard for them to think, hard for them to dream at night, hard for them to day dream, hard to feel hopeful, hard to see themselves healthy again. SOme cannot cry anymore because they have become emotionally numb to not eating enough. Save a little in your pocket for a homeless person or make a nice plate of food for someone in need. Donate to a shelter where children in need can be fed. It’s tough for them. They don’t have the luxury of choosing what they eat. Are they beneath you because they might not always get to eat like you? Remember to be thankful for the food in your life & try not to deny others the right to eat peacefully. There is no need to make enemies over food.
